ABOUT MIKE LAMB

Making sense of technology, one byte at a time

I’m Mike Lamb and iluli is my passion project.

Since iluli launched in March 2019, the website and accompanying YouTube channel have gone from strength to strength. The site now hosts over 100 blogs ranging from product reviews to opinion pieces on new technologies, scientific discoveries and best practice for businesses.

The website is also home to InterpreTED by Mike Lamb - the newest addition to the iluli universe. Here I explore some of my favourite TED Talks on topics ranging from artificial intelligence to medicine. By sharing insights and ideas, I hope to keep the conversation going and to inspire others, just as these speakers have inspired me.

With over 200,000 subscribers and a whopping 55 million views (and counting!), my YouTube channel offers a wealth of information, breaking down complex topics with fun, easy-to-understand animations. But don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself!

To me it’s more than a blog site where I can share the occasional opinion on the tech landscape. I hope, in time, that it will develop into a useful resource centre.

The idea for iluli first came to me when I heard a quote from Einstein...

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."

It's extremely easy for engineers in large companies to come across as a bunch of nerds talking another language. I want to change that perception by breaking down the barriers that restrict people from engaging with, and immersing themselves in, technology. By simplifying tech terminology and explaining the latest concepts in novel ways, I hope to inform and inspire the developers, engineers and users of the future.

I have had the pleasure of working for Pfizer for more than 15 years now, starting with a role at Wyeth UK. My career to date has led me to working in Vienna, New Jersey and the UK. I spend about 50% of my time working from home, and the other half travelling the globe for conferences, meetings and initiative launches.

My passion lies principally in the intersection between Healthcare and Technology. I fully embrace the Pfizer purpose - breakthroughs that change patients’ lives – and it is thanks to the incredible impact that Pfizer has that I have stayed with the company for so long.

In my current role as VP, Global Digital Platforms, Engineerings, Operations and Rapid Response, I work to bring leading edge technology to Pfizer, to develop new approaches to scalability and reusability, and to ensure their capabilities meet the legal, privacy and security requirements of a Fortune 100 company.

Furthermore, as an expert in Cloud, Agile and Open Source technologies, I am regularly invited to speak at industry events. In 2014, I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Drupal Association. Drupal is one of the largest Open Source projects, with more than 1M members and over 100K active contributors. I was recruited to represent the needs of large scale users of Drupal. In 2016, I was elected to join the Board Executive Committee as Secretary, and for a second term as a Board Member.

All of my experience has led me to iluli, and an opportunity to add value on an even larger scale by sharing my knowledge and expertise with the wider world. Whether you are a tech employee or an enthusiast, I hope you will find the content posted on the website useful.

Please feel free to get in touch with suggestions for future videos and articles, and I’ll do my best to accommodate them.
